State parks special
State park visitors who bring a library card, a library book or who donate a new or gently used family-friendly book will receive free entrance to Florida State Parks on Sept. 8 in honor of International Literacy Day.
"Literacy is very important for people of all ages," said Florida Park Service Director Donald Forgione. "We are excited to celebrate reading and provide the best spots in the state to curl up with a good book to enjoy nature and the great outdoors."
Ripley's Believe It or Not! Odditorium is giving teachers and support staff for grades K-12 free admission when they visit from Sept. 2-Oct. 19. Just bring a current pay stub and photo ID. Plus, up to five guests who come with an educator get 50 percent off admission.
The Grammy Award winning band Chicago is coming to the Marina Civic Center at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 5 with tickets from $35.99 to $75.99. The first several rows are being sold exclusively by Chicago Fan Club & Hess Entertainment.
